Its been my efforts to provide a clear picture about Dandeli and its surroundings, hence this is a small initiative to start with. My site is basically a Information site about Dandeli, providing detailed description about the place, the facilities available and gives a brief about the surrounding tourist destinations.The main objective is to provide an in depth picture of Dandeli to the people who are visiting for the first time may be as a tourist, and adventure crazy, or for a whitewater rafting, so that you may not get mislead and can have a real good time in the short span of your visit.

About Dandeli
Dandeli is a small place located in the state of Karnataka in India. Hubli, Dharwad, Belgaum, Karwar, and Goa are the surrounding cities to Dandeli. It is easily accessible through roads from all the destinations.
Dandeli is an undisturbed place in the midst of Dense forests of the western Ghats.It has plenty of natural resources and this has given an opportunity for investors setting up their resorts and ecolodges.There are many resorts and ecolodges spread across the city.
Dandeli as a place has developed as an Industrial city and is multicultured. Dandeli started gaining importance long back when the British ruled and they had it connected with Railway facilities now its just a memory. Initially Dandeli had Indian Plywood company which was believed to be the best in manufacturing plywood. supporting it were mining and a small steel plant and another paper factory.
People here are employed at these few companies. Its gained popularity as a Industrial , and Educational hub, now is on the tourism..People from across the country reside here and hence every festivals are celebrated in a grand way.
Dandeli boasts some of the major celebrations which is very unique in the south region of India, namely Ramleela in Dussera, Holi and Ganesh Chaturthi.
Language: One can easily communicate here with his/ her own language, else Hindi is common with Kannada, Konkani, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam following.
Cost of living: Compared to cost of living in cities its damn cheap here, and you have the feasibility of bargaining if in case you find it expensive.

Dandeli is the gateway to the 834 sq. km. Dandeli Game Sanctuary. It is home to rare species of animals, like barking deer, sloth bear, civet cat, panther, Flying Squirrel and Malabar Squirrel. Woodpeckers and Hornbills are some of the birds sighted. Experience the thrills of jungle life by staying at the Kali Wilderness Camp, located on the edge of the Kali River or at the Bison River Resort. Ride down the Kali river in a coracle (round basket like boat), where you can watch crocodiles basking on the banks and water birds nesting. You can also take a jeep safari or walk along the nature trails in the forests.
Spread over 834.16 sq.km the Dandeli wildlife sanctuary is the second largest in Karnataka and is contiguous
Maulangi is a place on the river bank of kali, where people go out for a outing and its mostly crowded on weekends, a nice place to hangout.You may find this place polluted too since awareness about pollution is less and nobody tries to follow them.
White water Rafting is a well known activity here and is believed to be the first of its kind in the South India after the Himalayas.Its been carried out by experienced professionals from the UK. Once you are on the raft, you can feel the adrenaline gush out of you giving you a real thrill.There's no need for you to be a swimmer even a novice can go and experience the rafting.
Surrounding Dandeli there are many places to visit namely Naghjari view point(subject to permission by KPC) Ulavi , Syntheri Rocks, Maulangi, Kulgi nature Camp, Supa Dam, Supa Catchment area, Ganeshgudi, Shanmukha View Point, Vincholli falls, Magod Falls etc.,
Life seems to get fresh here with the fresh air getting into your lungs.. and the mist covering you while you are there on top of shanmuga view point.
Vincholli falls is located very close to Dandeli and is one of the best falls you shouldn't miss to visit. Apart from this you can visit the Tibetian monastery located in Mundgod.Its worth viewing, and will consume a day to visit from Dandeli.
